The Foundation for Inter-Cultural Dialogue (FID) is a non-profit and an independent organization whose mission is to promote dialogue, mutual respect, and collaboration within Arizona’s multicultural community. FID actively seeks to increase public awareness and appreciation of our rich, multicultural and multifaith heritage and to create venues that foster friendship, understanding, and respect through educational, social, and community service events. FID has branches in Phoenix and Tucson.
FID was established in 2004 by a group of Turkish Muslims who reside in Arizona. The main inspiration for the establishment of FID stems from a Turkish Islamic scholar, Mr. Fethulah Gülen, who promotes service to humanity, through dialogue, education, and respect for all humanity, cultures, and faiths. FID’s goal is not to promote any particular religion or any particular culture but to provide the members of our community with opportunities to engage in intercultural/interfaith dialogue and appreciate the cultural and religious differences. In other words, our aim is to provide our community with a new platform for friendship; one that dispels prejudice originated from absence of communication. To serve this purpose, FID is dedicated to organize seminars, panels, dinners, art exhibits, interfaith dialogue trips, and music and dance performances.
FID often collaborates with other local organizations on projects with common goals. FID also sponsors student organizations at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona to increase multicultural awareness on college campuses. The members of Executive Board of FID are thankful for all the efforts of our volunteers and the donations from the gracious members of our community.
